Rural Ashton and Sandy Spring

Sandy Spring Ashton Rural Preservation Consortium

The SSARPC (PreserveAshton.net)

supports development in Ashton that conforms to our Master Plan.

We are pro-Master Plan; not anti-development.

Throughout the summer members of the SSARPC Steering Committee along with Attorney Dave Brown and Planner Stu Surota have worked tirelessly on behalf of our community.  We are now cautiously hopeful that with your continued support a positive joint proposal with Ashton Meeting Place (AMP) is in sight.

In the past month representatives from both the SSARPC and the AMP have been quietly meeting on a regular basis to explore possible design changes that would be acceptable to both the SSARPC and the AMP.

In addition, representatives of both the SSARPC and the AMP have jointly met with representatives from the State Highway Administration regarding proposed changes to the intersection at routes 108 and 650.

These meetings have been productive and beneficial.  The SSARPC and AMP representatives have agreed not to disclose the substance of these discussions while they are ongoing in order to facilitate communication and the free flow of ideas.  We hope to be able to share information on the progress of these discussions relatively soon.

Thank you for your continued support.

Respectfully yours,

Elizabeth Garrettson and Paul David Mannina, Co-Chairs, SSARPC
